Social Democracy after the Pandamic
For the discussion platform NextLeftI have, Michael Rüter, together with Heiko Kretschmer, formulated some theses for the challenges of the coming period. Even if we cannot yet say exactly when the post-pandemic period will begin, it is already clear that social democracy in Europe will be particularly challenged will be able to shape the necessary social cohesion well. Divisions in societies, including within the European Union, must be overcome. It will be the age of good bridge builders. It could also be the start of a new social democratic decade.

In the coming months, it will be much more difficult for political issues and observers to follow important decisions in the Federal Council. For infrastructure and economic development issues or action-relevant regulations, the Federal Council and its committee deliberations will become even more interesting and important.
It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the processes in the Federal Council at an early stage, as good navigation for the Federal Council is becoming increasingly important. With the right navigation, the complex decision-making processes between the federal government and the states can be better understood and, above all, the right time can be found to assert one's interests.
Anyone who wants to bring legitimate interests into the process when making substantive decisions is well advised to enter into discussions with the right levels at a very early stage and over the long term.
